Topographic MapA topographic map shows different physical features of the landscape. A topographic map uses contour lines to show changes in the landscape. It shows the shape of the land, natural features (such as rivers and vegetation) and cultural features (land use, settlement patterns, road/rail networks).

Thematic MapA thematic map focuses on a specific theme or special topic. This type of map will often show the distribution (spread) of something, such as: climate, vegetation, rainfall averages and population density.

Weather MapWeather maps show weather conditions over a particular place and time. Information given on these maps through the synoptic symbols can help us make forecasts and make predictions about the type of weather expected.
